Cyndy Wulfsberg
CYNDY WULFSBERG was born in Texas and has lived in six states, one territory, and two foreign countries. She holds a B.A from Luther College in Political Science, and an M.A in Sociology from the University of Virginia. Her career spans over 40 years and includes university teaching, elected public office, consulting, lobbying, and national and international marketing and sales.
During her time at universities, Cyndy taught conflict resolution and social problems to graduate and undergraduate students planning for careers in education, enabling improved effectiveness with colleagues, superiors, parents and clients. Cyndy’s consulting work was with Boards of Education aiming to decrease conflict and increase cooperation, improving relationships and performance.
While in public office, Cyndy served on the Board of Education of a high performing district in New Jersey undergoing substantial growth and change. As President for 13 of those years, the Board of Education built a new school and expanded and modernized 5 other schools in the district. Cyndy and the Board also redistricted the township, negotiated union contracts, tackled challenging legal and emergency situations, and were a founding member of a state lobbying consortium.
Cyndy’s work in national and international sales focused on agriculture and dairy animal health and productivity. This work was spurred on after Cyndy and her family moved to Iowa. Cyndy wanted to learn about the local people, industry, and economy, and voila, a new career was born! During Cyndy’s time in this field, she worked as a National Sales Manager, representing her company at events, expos, regional and national organizations, and international events. Cyndy also worked for a Chemistry company in product development in the areas of reagents and analytical equipment for veterinary research and diagnostics.
As one of the youngest of her family she has served as executor for four family members and knows that hard things are easier with a dose of humor. She is devoted to her family and friends and now lives in Michigan with her husband, cats, and bees.
HOW THE FILE CABINET
came to life
I have always been a writer, collecting ideas and writing stories, book outlines, and essays. Writing has been a source of pleasure, solace and reflection for me, and it has been a private pursuit. Hours in my office were my own, so most of my family and friends didn’t know I wrote until Ghost or Guardian launched.
What propelled me to start From the File Cabinet? With the encouragement of my daughter-in-law, Stephanie Joong, I attended a retreat in Lake Las Vegas hosted by Hope Mueller of CLIMB Conferences and Jennifer Pestikas of Brave Women at Work. Initially, I was unsure, not knowing what to expect or gain from the experience.
During the retreat, all attendees were encouraged to share an aspirational story, plan, or project. I read the introduction of Ghost or Guardian to resounding applause and encouragement. My new friends told me I had to publish this book—they wanted and needed it and were confident others would too. Now, just under a year later, the book is published, From the File Cabinet is a reality, and I have a new dynamic and talented support group and a refreshed, revitalized perspective. I will continue to lead with ‘yes’ and embrace new adventures and friendships.

Finding Magic in
Beekeeping and Writing
As a child, I curiously watched my father keep bees and loved sneaking a taste of their sweet honey. My dad was a science and nature-loving man who was self-reliant and industrious, so bees were a natural interest for him. As I carry on his work, teaching my family to appreciate and care for bees, I continue this meaningful family and ancient human tradition.
I am fascinated by bees and their work. Bees build complex and beautiful structures to store pollen, nectar, and future generations—their brood. Reflecting on my writing, I realize I’ve also been creating my own storage structures through the physical writing I’ve compiled in my file cabinet. I, like the bees, work to secure, preserve and inform the future.
As a beekeeper, I observe the fascinating and somewhat magical way bees work and thrive in their hives. I strive for some magic of my own with From the File Cabinet.
